Chris Bunch

Chris Bunch enters his 23rd season in as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Webster University for the 2024-25 season. 

During his time with the Gorloks, Bunch has led the men's basketball program to nine St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, including taking home back-to-back league titles in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. In addition, he has been chosen as the SLIAC Coach of the Year seven times ( 2004-05, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2018-19 2019-20, and 2022-23) and was also awarded the D3Hoops.com Central Region Coach of the Year in 2013-14 after leading Webster to a 20-8 overall record, a SLIAC Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament. 

Entering the 2023-24 season, Bunch's record stands at 311-225 overall with nine regular season SLIAC titles and seven Coach of the Year accolades. The Gorloks are also 237-95 in SLIAC play during coach Bunch's tenure, the best mark of any conference school in that span. Last season, Webster went 14-13 overall and 10-4 in SLIAC play. 

Bunch is the all-time winningest men's basketball coach in Webster history and had led the program to nine SLIAC regular season titles, three SLIAC Tournament titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances (2011, 2014 and 2020). He is the third longest active tenured coach in the SLIAC entering the 2023-24 season.

Before coming to Webster, Bunch was an assistant coach at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. In addition to his collegiate experience, Bunch served as a high school head basketball coach for seven years in his native state of Tennessee. As a high school coach, Bunch won 100 games and had two teams that were ranked in the Top 10  in the state of Tennessee.

Bunch is a 1988 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education and a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision which he received in 2002. 

He and his wife, Christine, reside in Kirkwood, Mo.
