Luigi Scire

Luigi Scire enters his 27th season as the Head Women's Soccer coach at Webster University in 2025-26.

Since beginning the program in 1999, Scire has helped the Gorloks compile an overall record of 381-116-22 (.750). The program has won 16 SLIAC Championships in 26 years while compiling a 226-23-7 (.901) league record.  The women's soccer team has made 14 appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament, advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament on four different occasions.

Scire has the 15th highest all-time winning percentage (.755) among NCAA III coaches and the 26th highest women's all-time winning percentage in all divisions. Scire has been named SLIAC Coach of the Year eight times in 26 seasons, most recently in 2023 and he joined the '300' win club during 2018 with Webster's 3-1 win on Oct. 3 at Westminster (Mo.) College. 

During Scire's coaching tenure the team has produced 101 First Team All-Conference players, 13 SLIAC Newcomers of the Year, 17 SLIAC Players of the Year, and 11 SLIAC Tournament Most Valuable Players. In addition, the team has had a player voted CoSIDA All-American and 14 CoSIDA All-District. The team had its first USC Academic All-American in 2015, and the first in SLIAC history. Thirty-five Gorloks have landed on USC Academic All-Region and 29 on the All-Central Region Teams. Three players have been recognized as NCAA Division III National Statistical Champions for goals, points per game, and goals against average and the program has had 12 Webster Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees and four SLIAC Hall of Fame selections.

For 26 consecutive years, Scire's teams have won the prestigious United Soccer Coaches (USC) Team Academic Award and in 2018-19, the team was honored with the inaugural USC Team Pinnacle Award. The Team Pinnacle Award was created by the USC to recognize teams for achieving a high level of fair play, educational excellence and success on the soccer field. Additionally, the team received the Ethics Award from the USC for the 13th time in 2022-23. 

Under Scire's leadership, the women's soccer team is in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Record Book 18 times including: 
  • Fastest three consecutive goals in a game - :35 seconds (Brianna Pagan, Jessica Mess, Kristin Montgomery) vs. McMurray on October 14, 2014 
  • Melissa Kasper (2016-2019) ranks 17th all-time in career assists (54) 
  • Christy Little (1999-2002) ranks 11th all-time in Goals-Against Average (0.294 in 3,065 minutes) 
  • Melissa Kasper (2016-2019) is one of 61 players to record over 40 goals and 40 assists (48 goals and 54 assists) 
  • Ranks 11th in the two-fastest goals consecutive goals - :11 seconds (Jessica Mess, Kristin Montgomery) vs. McMurray on October 14, 2014 
  • Ranks 15th in the two fastest consecutive goals by the same player - :21 seconds (Grace Rodgers) vs. Illinois College on September 17, 2021 
  • Ranks 15th in two fastest consecutive goals by opposing teams - :17 seconds (Lindsey Tiemeyer and Shaina Niederschulte) vs. Maryville on November 4, 2004 
  • Christy Capkovic led the country in Points/Game in 2009 (3.90)

Scire and his wife, Tina, have four adult children and reside in St. Louis.
