Turnabout Is 'Good' Play, Gorloks Beat Eighth-Ranked Panthers

Gorloks Sit Atop SLIAC

The men's soccer team put an exclamation point on its reversal of fortunes as Webster University defeated eighth-ranked Principia College 1-0 at the Soccer Park on October 6.  The Gorloks now sit atop the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at 4-0 as their winning streak has reached four.

Senior Matt Geringer (Hazelwood Central HS, STL) faced 21 shots and had 12 saves as he recorded his third shutout.  Geringer's goals against average dropped to 1.12 with the shutout, his third in his last four games.

The Gorlok defense was led again by Kyle Gamache (SR, Francis Howell Central, STL), Jimmy McDonnell (SR, Christian Brothers HS, STL), Eric Fuchs (JR, Vianney HS, STL), and Aaron Belisle (SR, Lindbergh HS, STL).  Webster has only surrendered 11 goals in 10 games on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Webster scored the game's only goal as Andy Rudroff (SR, DeSmet Jesuit HS, STL) buried a cross from sophomore Dominic DeVasto (Vianney HS, STL).  Kyle Leifield (JR, Marquette, STL) started the play with a cross to DeVasto.

After starting the season 0-5, the Gorloks overall record is now 4-5-1.  They take the field again on October 10 against Eureka College at the Soccer Park.
