With Webster's softball team six outs away from being swept by Fontbonne, the bottom of the Gorloks' lineup that came through in the clutch.
The last three hitters in the lineup -
Samantha Dittman,
Erynn Coit and
Allie Park - sparked both late inning rallies that led to six runs in Webster's 6-4 game two victory. The Gorloks left 11 runners stranded in falling to the Griffins 3-0 in the opener.
With one out in the sixth inning, Dittman started the rally with single. After a fielder's choice and error put two on with one out, Park drilled a double off the wall to force in Webster's first run of the game. An infield single by
Megan Sperry brought another run home and an infield single by
Cassie Mosier loaded the bases. The Gorloks took the lead on back-to-back fielder's choices.
After Fontbonne fought back to knot the score in its half of the sixth, Coit and Park were back at it again. Coit extended the seventh inning by getting hit with two outs, then Park drove a double to place runners on second and third. The speedsters at the top - Sperry and Mosier - put together back-to-back infield singles for the second consecutive inning to drive home the winning margin.
Mosier finished the game with a career-high four hits with one RBI. Sperry added a 3-for-5 evening with two RBI and a run scored. Park had her first multi-hit game of the season.

Webster had runners on in six of the seven innings, but Fontbonne scored two runs on one hit in the first inning to take the lead. Back-to-back walks to start the inning eventually paid dividends for the Griffins. They added a solo home run in the fourth.
Gina Trapani (6-4) absorbed the tough luck loss, surrendering three earned runs on just three hits with seven strikeouts.
