Webster women’s volleyball defeated Maryville 3-1 (25-19, 25-27, 25-11, 25-16) in their home opener at Grant Gymnasium on Tuesday night. After splitting the first two games, Webster took the next two to put the match in the win column. The Gorloks (1-0) are off to a good start in their quest to return to the NCAA tournament. Maryville (0-1) left the SLIAC after the 2008-09 season to test the Division II waters.

The Gorloks head to the Bear Classic on Friday. September 4, to take on perennial power Washington U. and pre-season top 10 pick Hope College. They then face Millikin University and Augustana College on Saturday, September 5 to finish out the Classic.
