Gorloks Still Looking For First Win

Second Half Effort Not Quite Enough

The men's soccer team lost to the Washington University Bears 2-1 at the Soccer Park on September 9.  While suffering their fourth straight defeat, the Gorloks showed glimpses in the second half that some victories could be on the horizon.

A fairly dominating first half by the Bears, in which Webster mustered only one shot, only netted Washington U. one goal on a deflected shot off a defender at the 16:30 mark.

Webster had a much better effort in the second half, matching Washington U. shot for shot and save for save, tying the score 1-1 on a free kick by junior Brian Enger (Mehlville HS, STL) at 70:00.  The Bears scored the winning goal on a header with six minutes left in the game.  The Gorloks couldn't counter and fell to 0-4 on the young season.

Next up is Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday, September 13 at 12 noon at the Soccer Park.  The Titans are 0-1-2 with a tie to Washington U. and a 3-2 loss to SLIAC conference rival Principia.
