Webster University finished 128th out of 448 NCAA Division III programs in the final standings for the Directors Cup, awarded by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), for the 2009-10 school year. Webster had the highest finish in Cup standings among the nine member schools of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Directors Cup ranks the best overall athletics programs for the school year, determined by the number of teams a school has participating in NCAA III national championships, and how well those teams performed in the championships. The Gorloks sent five different teams to the NCAA national championships in 2009-10. Men's and women's soccer, volleyball, women's tennis, and baseball all earned NCAA berths in their respective sports.
This was Webster's second-highest finish in the 15-year history of the Directors Cup for NCAA III institutions, trailing only the No. 122 ranking for the Gorloks in the 2007-08 school year. Webster was one of six schools to finish in the top 130 in Division III in the Directors Cup standings, and rank among the "25 Best Midwest Colleges" 'master's universities,' as judged by U.S. News and World Report.
The Directors Cup is awarded separately by NACDA to all three NCAA divisions and to the NAIA.
