Up against a tough starting pitching effort, the Webster University baseball team dropped a 4-1 decision to St. Norbert College (WI) in Winter Haven, FL, on March 15. The Gorlok offense, normally a more potent force, were limited to five hits and one run as Webster fell to 3-2 on the trip to the Central Florida Invitational.
Colin Bates (JR, Indian Hills CC, IL) had two singles and Alex Kazmierski (JR, Triton CC, IL) had the team's only extra-base hit as he doubled and scored the lone run for the Gorloks.
Steve Dooley (JR, Florissant Vallley CC) started for Webster, going seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, while striking out seven. He took the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season.
The Gorloks are 7-5 overall. Webster plays its final game in the Invitational on March 16, as they face Benedictine University (IL) in Auburndale, FL, on March 16. The Gorloks are at Washington University on March 21 before returning home to GCS Ballpark on March 24 to face Principia College (IL).
