Box Score The three seniors on Webster University men's soccer team — Marc Hager, Patrick McCaffrey and Korey Gauvain — scored the Gorloks' first three goals in an 11-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan College Saturday (Nov. 2) at St. Louis Soccer Park.
Hager (St. Louis, MO / St. John Vianney), McCaffrey (St. Louis, MO / Bishop DuBourg) and Gauvain (St. Louis, MO / St. John Vianney) were honored in a Senior Day pre-game ceremony for their contributions to the program.
The trio then proceeded to score Webster's opening three goals in the game's first 17 minutes. Hager, McCaffrey and Gauvain also chipped in an assist apiece.
Freshman Alex Whalen (Chesterfield, MO / Parkway Central) scored the first two goals of his collegiate career, and freshman Jarek Moreschini (Pueblo, CO / Pueblo) also recorded two goals.
Sophomore Gian Scire (St. Louis, MO / St. John Vianney) and freshmen Frank Verdu (Edwardsville, IL / Edwardsville) and Dylan Tampow (Hazelwood, MO / Hazelwood West) all scored the first goals of their college careers. Junior Mike Wells (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) also scored for the Gorloks.
Junior Josh Papes (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) and freshman Lucas Wittrock (House Springs, MO / Northwest) were both credited with two assists. Papes' five assists this season are tied for the most for Webster, and Wittrock's two points were the first of his collegiate career.

Junior Brian Woodward (Eureka, MO / Eureka) and freshman Zach Horn (Godfrey, IL / Alton Marquette) split the shutout in goal, as Webster outshot the visitors 33-1. The shutout was the Gorloks' ninth of the season and third in a row.
The Gorloks' 11 goals were tied for the most in a game in program history. Webster tallied 11 goals in September 2007 match against Eureka.
Webster, ranked ninth in the Central Region, according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, ends the regular season on a four-game winning streak. The Gorloks (13-3-3 overall record) have won 10 of their last 11 contests.
With an 8-1 conference record, Webster finishes in a three-way tie atop the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings. Due to the SLIAC's tie-breaker, Webster will be seeded third and will play at No. 2-seeded Fontbonne Wednesday (Nov. 6) at a time to be announced.
If the Gorloks defeat Fontbonne, they will play at top-seeded Westminster or host fourth-seeded Greenville in the SLIAC tournament championship Friday (Nov. 8).
Webster is the defending SLIAC tournament champion. The Gorloks beat Fontbonne in last year's SLIAC tournament semifinal and then defeated Westminster in the championship game.
