Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but that was the only tally it would have on the afternoon as the Gorloks lost at Wartburg College, 4-1, on September 5 in Waverly, IA. The Knights were 17th in NSCAA 2015 preseason poll. Lucas Wittrock scored the lone goal for Webster.
Wittrock (JR, House Springs, MO/Northwest HS) scored his first collegiate goal, unassisted just eight minutes into the contest to give Webster a 1-0 lead. Wiitrock played just three games in 2014. Wartburg would tie the contest at the 32:00 minute mark to send the teams into the locker room knotted at 1-1.
Wartburg scored three unanwered goals in the first 11 minutes of the second half to take a 4-1 lead and salt the outcome. Zach Horn (JR, Godfrey, IL/Alton Marquette HS), making his first start in two years, manned the nets for Webster. Horn allowed four goals and had six saves as he faced 22 Knight shots. Wartburg outshot Webster 22-7 for the game.
The Gorloks continue their Iowa swing with a game at Luther College in Decorah, IA, on September 6.
