Men's Basketball Rebounds W/ 86-72 Win Over Eureka

The Webster University men's basketball team rebounded nicely from its first conference loss to beat Eureka College, 86-72, on January 4 at Grant Gymnasium.  The Gorloks established control early and never trailed in the contest.  Jonathan Odjo, Adam Etter, C.J. Moore, and Hunter Ward all had double figures in points for the game.

Gorloks took a 20-10 lead to open the contest and coasted to a 48-28 halftime advantage.  Webster had balanced scoring in the session with eight players scoring four or more points.  The Gorloks shot 18-34 (53%) for the half and held the Red Devils to 11-32 (34%) from the field.

The Red Devils made a run to start the second half to cut the Gorloks' lead to 50-38, but Webster re-established control and just as quickly led, 63-42.  Webster maintained a comfortable lead for the duration.  The Gorloks finished at 30-64 (47%) shooting and were 8-19 (42%) from the three-point line.  Webster committed only eight turnovers in the contest.

Odjo (JR, West Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast HS) had a team-high 16 points, shooting 5-8 from the field, and had three steals for the night.  Ward (JR, Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood HS), just named the SLIAC Player of the Week for a second straight week, had 15 points, six rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.

Etter (JR, Albers, IL/Mater Dei HS) had a personal season-high 14 points, hitting 3-4 from the three-point line.  Moore (JR, Homestead, FL/Miami Killian HS) had 10 points and three assists.

Webster is 6-5 overall with the win.  Eureka falls to 2-2 in the SLIAC and 4-7 overall.

The Gorloks are right back in action at Grant on January 4 vs. Fontbonne University.  Webster is home on January 9 vs. MacMurray College (IL) and ends a four-game homestand with a game vs. Westminster College on January 13.
