The Webster University women's soccer team remained undefeated in the SLIAC with an 8-0 win over Blackburn College, on October 7, in Carlinville, IL. The Gorloks, ranked seventh in the Central Region and the SLIAC coaches pre-season favorite to win the conference, had a dominant effort against the Beavers as they are now 3-0 in league play.
Webster jumped on top at 3:26 as Joi Wilson (FR, Tracy, CA/Tracy) scored her team-high eighth goal, assisted by Melissa Kasper (SO, Chicago, IL/Oswego). Chelsea Noser (SR, Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) would make it 2-0 with her seventh goal of the year at 6:13 with Kasper also assisting.
Noser added a second goal, tying her with Wilson for eight on the year, at 11:58, assisted by Brianna Pagan (SR, St. Louis, MO/Washington). It was Noser's 26th career goal, tying her for 12th on Webster's all-time goal list. Noser also now has three game-winning goals on the year, tying her for 9th on Webster's all-time list with eight for her career.
Kelsey Hausmann (SR, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) finished the Gorlok scoring in the first half with a goal at 34:13, assisted by Jen Laaksonen (SO, St. Louis, MO/Fox). Webster out shot Blackburn 24-0 in the half, giving starting goalie Alisa Coralic (JR, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) little to do in the nets.
Olivia Osterhage (SO, St. Louis, MO/Eureka) scored just under three minutes into the second half, with Noser getting the assist. Kasper added a goal of her own at 54:28, with Lauren Nuelle (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) getting the assist. Sydney Tedesco (SR, Belleville, IL/Belleville East) got in on the scoring at 57:50, with Kasper once again getting the assist. Laaksonen closed the scoring with a tally at 69:23, with an assist going to Jillian Zimpfer (JR, St. Louis, MO/St. Charles).
Coralic got the win in the nets, making her 4-1 on the season. Abbey Mercer (SO, Granite City, IL/Granite City) took over in the second half, and felt like the Maytag repairman as the Beavers had no shots in the half as the Gorlok defense left little to chance. Webster had a 53-0 edge in shots.
Kasper finished with a goal and three assists, and has a team high eight assists on the season. Noser finished with two goals and an assist.
Webster has never lost to Blackburn, and lead the series between the two teams, 25-0. Webster is 3-0 in the SLIAC, tied for first place with Spalding University, and is 11-1 overall.
Webster hosts Westminster College on October 12 at the Soccer Park, then travels to Jacksonville, IL, to play MacMurray College on October 14.
