BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Webster University had 25 of its fall sport student-athletes named to the 2018 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Fall All-Academic Team on Tuesday. The 25 student-athletes was tied for second-most among the league's 10 member institutions as Greenville had a league-best 40 total selections, while Webster was tied with MacMurray, who also had 25 student-athletes honored.
The Gorlok women's soccer and volleyball teams each had eight student-athletes recognized, while the men's soccer team had six selections. The men's cross country team had two student-athletes selected and the women's cross country team had one student-athlete selected.
Along with Greenville's 47, Webster and MacMurray's 25 selections, Iowa Wesleyan and Fontbonne were next as they each had 24 selections, while Principia was next with 20. Westminster (Mo.) College had 19 honorees, while Spalding was next with 16. Blackburn had eight and Eureka had five overall selections.
The SLIAC Fall All-Academic team had a total of 206 student-athletes total from around the conference honored. In order to earn All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have been enrolled in at least one full year at their current institution.
12 of the 25 fall SLIAC All-Academic Gorloks were recognized for a second consecutive season and four of the honorees are three-time SLIAC Fall All-Academic selections - senior volleyball player
Samantha Budrovich (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South), senior volleyball player
Torie Grassi (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain), senior volleyball player
Kelsey Hamann (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) and senior women's soccer player
Jillian Zimpfer (St. Louis, Mo./St. Charles).
