FENTON, Mo. - Webster University women's soccer played perhaps its most dominating match of the season here Saturday afternoon as they took a season high 28 shots and held Cornell College to just three shots in 90 minutes of action in its 4-0 shutout victory over the Rams at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
With the win, Webster now improves to 6-0-0 on the season and extends its regular season win streak to 15 consecutive matches dating to last season. Cornell falls to 1-4-0 on the year.
In Saturday's win, the Gorloks recorded 14 shots in each half and put 13 of those shots on goal and scored two goals in each half.Â
Senior midfielder
Carolyn Ries (St. Louis, Mo./Lindbergh) got the scoring started in the 18th minute as she took pass from junior midfielder
Olivia Osterhage (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) and connected on a shot from the left side about 10 yards out to give the Gorloks a 1-0 lead. The goal was first of the season for one of WU's four team captains.
Senior defender
Jillian Zimpfer (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) gave the Gorloks a 2-0 lead in the 32nd minute as she scored off a rebound of a blocked shot.Â
Ries made the score 3-0 in the 60th minute of the match as she took a pass from junior midfielder
Payton Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Fort Zumwalt North) and connected on her second goal from eight yards out. Ries has now scored nine goals in her career and posted her first career two goal match on Saturday.
Junior
Melissa Kasper (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) would get into the scoring act about six minutes after Ries' goal as she took a pass from sophomore forward
Joi Wilson (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) and connected on a cross from three yards out to give WU a 4-0 lead. The goal by Kasper was her fourth of the season and ties her with Williams for the team lead.Â
Eight Gorloks finished the match with at least two shots, including junior midfielder

Nicole Bascio (Wentzville, Mo./Timberland) each had three shots, while Kasper, Osterhage and Zimpfer each had two shots in the win.Â
The 28 shots were the most in a match for the Gorloks since recording 53 at Blackburn last season. In addition, it marked the second straight match Webster had recorded 20 or more shots as they had 22 in its 4-1 home win on Wednesday against Monmouth (Ill.) College.Â
Sophia Schnur had two of her team's three shots, while Layne Pullen had the Rams' only shot on goal, which came in the 57th minute with Gorlok junior
Abbey Mercer (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) in goal in place of senior goalkeeper
Alisa Coralic (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville).Â
Coralic, who played the first half in net, picked up the win to improve to 6-0-0 on the season and is now 25-5-1 in her Gorlok career in net. The 25 wins is fourth most on the school's all-time list.Â
