WEBSTER GROVES - Webster University comes into this week's action ranked 22nd in this week's latest ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll that was released on Tuesday afternoon.
Along with being ranked 22nd in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll, Webster earned votes in this week's NCBWA/D3Baseball.com Poll.Â
In this week's fourth regular season ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 poll, Webster fell five spots from No. 19 to No. 24 and fell out of this week's seventh regular season NCBWA/D3Baseball.com Top 25 poll. Â
Webster, who is sporting a 17-8 overall record is 7-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, earned 107 points to sit four points behind No. 23 LaGrange (111 points) and 18 points in front of No. 25 Wisconsin-Whitewater (89 points) in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll. Meanwhile, in the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll, Webster earned 27 points to sit sixth among the 27 teams earning votes in this week's poll.
In this week's latest ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll, Concordia-Chicago (19-1) remains atop the poll at No. 1 as the Cougars, who picked up a 4-1 win earlier this season over the Gorloks and will play Webster two more times this season in early May, earned 480 points in the poll. Christopher Newport (23-3) remains at No. 2 as they earned 455 points and is followed by Southern Maine (16-3) at No. 3 with 441 points, College of New Jersey (17-3) jumped two spots to No. 4 and earned 407 points and Trinity (Texas) (23-7) remains ranked fifth this week with 395 points.Â
Much like the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll, Concordia-Chicago moves up to No. 1 in this week's NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll as they earned 608 points and 14 first place votes. Christopher Newport (23-3) falls to No. 2 this week as they earned 606 points and nine first place votes, while Southern Maine (16-3) is third as they earned 551 points and one first place vote. Trinity (Texas) (23-7) remains fourth and Rowan (17-5) jumps two spots to No. 5 as they earned the final first place vote.Â
In addition to Webster, who is the lone SLIAC team ranked, one other league school, Spalding earned votes in both of this week's polls as the Golden Eagles, who swept a doubleheader against the Gorloks in Lousiville, Ky., on March 20, earned 25Â votes in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll and 13Â votes in the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll.Â
Webster will put its national ranking and its two game win streak on the line this coming weekend at GCS Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, Ill., as the Gorloks host Iowa Wesleyan for a three-game SLIAC series. The two teams will open the series with a single game on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. and then conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 beginning at 1 p.m.Â
