WEBSTER GROVES – With the cancellation of the spring sports season, Webster Athletics will be recognizing their spring senior student-athletes twice a week on www.websterathletics.com for the remainder of the 2020 spring semester. The first edition of the Webster Senior Spotlight recognizes Nicolas Andrade (men's tennis) and Avery Boccella (softball).
 
Nicolas Andrade • Sr. / Quito, Ecuador (Francis Howell Central) / Men's Tennis

Andrade has been a four-year member of the Webster men's tennis team… in his time at Webster, he has posted a 17-19 career record in singles and posted an 11-18 record in doubles… primarily played No. 5 and No. 6 singles as he went 7-6 in his career at No. 5 singles and 8-7 at No. 6 singles… this season, went 1-4 in singles as he was 1-0 at the No. 3 spot and 0-4 at the No. 4 spot… his 17 singles wins are 16th most in school history… posted a 3-2 record in doubles this season, including a 2-2 mark at No. 3 doubles… as a junior in 2019, went 6-6 in singles and 3-7 in doubles… was an ITA Scholar Athlete in 2019… a native of Quito, Ecuador, Andrade graduated from Francis Howell High School in St. Peters, Mo., and is majoring in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in health and medicine.

Avery Boccella • Sr. / INF / Gilbert, Ariz. (Trinidad State) / Softball

Boccella has been a part of the Gorlok softball team the past two seasons… since joining Webster in 2019, she has played in 26 games and made 24 starts, including playing in all 14 games and starting 12 games this season… in her time as a Gorlok, she has recorded a .365 batting average with 23 hits and has scored 15 runs and has hit eight doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI… this season, she hit .438 with 14 hits, nine runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and 8 RBI… has had 63 career at-bats and also drew six career walks and was 4-for-4 in stolen bases, including a 2-for-2 mark in stolen bases this season… the .438 batting average this season is the highest on the team… a native of Gilbert, Ariz., Boccella came to Webster from Trinidad State (Colo.) Junior College and is majoring in Biology.
