WEBSTER GROVES – With the cancellation of the spring sports season, Webster Athletics will be recognizing their spring senior student-athletes twice a week on www.websterathletics.com for the remainder of the 2020 spring semester. The second edition of the Webster Senior Spotlight recognizes Dakota Borman (baseball) and Kathleen Matecki (women's track and field).
 
Dakota Borman • Sr. / Freeport, Ill. (Highland CC) / Baseball

Borman has been a part of the Gorlok baseball team the past two season… since joining Webster in 2019, he has made 13 appearances and 10 starts on the mound, including making three appearances out of the bullpen this season… in his time as a Gorlok, he has recorded a 3-2 record and has a career ERA of 4.12 and has tossed 39.1 innings, allowed 35 hits, 21 runs (18 earned runs), while striking out 40 and walking 19… this season, he had tossed 4.2 innings in three appearances and had recorded six strikeouts and had walked five and had a 1.93 ERA… as a junior in 2019, went 3-2 with a 4.41 ERA… made 10 starts and 10 appearances for the Gorloks and in those 10 appearances, he tossed 34.2 innings and recorded 34 strikeouts and walked 14… tallied a career high eight strikeouts last season at Principia and in that same game, he tossed a career high 5.1 innings… made his first career at-bat this season against Wisconsin-La Crosse… a native of Freeport, Ill., Borman transferred to Webster from Highland Community College and is majoring in Business Administration.

Kathleen Matecki • Sr. / Sprints / St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville HS) / Women's Track & Field

Matecki has been a four-year participant in track and field at Webster… has mostly run both the 100 and 200-meter dashes… has placed in the Top 10 multiple times in the SLIAC Track Championships in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes… at this year's inaugural SLIAC Indoor Championships, Matecki placed 14th in the 60-meter dash (9.46) and 12th in the 200-meter dash (31.59)… in last spring's SLIAC Outdoor Track Championships, she placed 10th in the 100-meter dash (14.09) and 13th in the 200-meter dash (29.62)… a native of St. Louis, Mo., she attended Mehlville High School and is majoring in Psychology.
