WEBSTER GROVES – Webster University Athletics is nearing the conclusion of unveiling its All-Decade Teams from the 2010s as it compiles the best student-athletes across the past 10 seasons (2010-19) in each of Webster's intercollegiate athletic teams. Our 15th team to be unveiled is the 2010-19 All-Decade Softball Team.
During the decade, the Gorloks posted five winning seasons and captured the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title in 2010 and finished as the runner-up in the SLIAC Softball Tournament four times (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2017). Along with winning one regular season SLIAC title and recording four runner-up finishes in the SLIAC Tournament, the Gorloks also advanced to the SLIAC Tournament five times in 10 years, including three straight trips to the tournament to open the decade. The regular season title in 2010 was its fourth consecutive for the Gorloks. In addition, Webster posted a 183-184 overall record and a 106-65 mark in SLIAC play, including winning at least 11 league games six times, including posing a 14-2 record to open the decade in 2010. The 14 league wins are the second most in the program's history as the school record for SLIAC wins is 15, which was set in 2007. Additionally, the Gorloks won at least 20 games three times as they posted 28 wins in 2017, 2015 wins in 2011 and 24 wins in 2010 and opened the decade by posting a 49-28 combined record in 2010 and 2011.
Along with the team successes on the field during the last 10 year, that success also translated into recognition for Webster's players as the 14 players on the All-Decade Team earned All-SLIAC honors a combined 30 times, including earning first team honors a combined nine times, including five players taking home All-SLIAC honors at least three times with one player, Kaytlin Buczak taking home four All-SLIAC accolades. In addition, Jessica Arcangel and Ashley Meagher – taking home SLIAC Newcomer and SLIAC Pitcher of the Year honors in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Additionally, the All-Decade Team members earned a combined six SLIAC All-Tournament honors and also taking home a combined 21 SLIAC Hitter or Pitcher of the Week accolades as they earned 10 Hitter of the Week honors and 11 Pitcher of the Week honors and one player –
Abby Burroughs – being named to the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team in 2019.
The All-Decade Team members were also strong in the classroom as they combined to earn 10 SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team honors, including four players – Burroughs, Morgan Mansur, Katelyn Sullens and Trisha Thompson – earning the honor two times each. In addition, the All-Decade Team members also earned a combined 14 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.

First Base
Taylor Gibbs (Alton, Ill. – 2012-14)
Gibbs' Career Stats
Gibbs was the only first baseman named to the All-Decade Team and in her three years as a Gorlok, she was named an All-SLIAC selection in 2012. Along with earning an All-SLIAC selection, she was a two-time SLIAC Hitter of the Week two times during the 2012 season and she was a two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in both 2013 and 2014. In her career as a Gorlok, Gibbs played in 94 games and made 91 starts, including playing in and starting 30 or more games in both 2013 and 2014. She recorded 86 career hits, scored 50 career runs, hit 19 career doubles, had three career triples, hit 19 career home runs, recorded 74 career RBI and was a career .315 hitter. Her 19 home runs are fifth-most in school history, while her 7 hit-by-pitches is tied for seventh on the all-time list and her .615 career slugging percentage is eighth-best in school history. Additionally, her 168 career total bases are 16th in school history, while her 74 career RBI are 19th in school history and the 20 doubles are tied for 20th on the school's all-time list. In 2013, she hit eight home runs are tied for ninth on the school's single season chart, while her seven double plays turned in 2014 are tied for tops on the school's single season chart.
Second Base
Tessa Johanning (Sullivan, Mo. – 2015-18)
Johanning's Career Stats
Near the end of the decade, Johanning made her mark at second base as over her four years as a Gorlok from 2015-18, she was a two-time All-SLIAC selection in both 2015 and 2018, including earning first team honors in 2018. Along with her two All-SLIAC selections, she was a two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2017 and 2018 and also earned SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team honors in 2018. Additionally, she took both a SLIAC Hitter of the Week and was named a HeroSports.com Softball Hero of the Week during the 2016 season. In her four years, Johanning played in 120 games and made 118 starts, including playing in and starting every game in 2015, 2016 and 2018. Along with playing 120 games, she was a career .321 hitter as she recorded 126 career hits, scored 71 career runs, hit 20 doubles, three home runs and recorded 81 career RBI. In addition, she made 26 career appearances in the circle as a pitcher, including making 22 starts and tossed five complete games. Holds the school record for career double plays turned (16), is seventh in career assists (147), tied for eighth in career at-bats (392), 14th in career hits (126), 15th in career putouts (259), tied for 16th in doubles (20), 17th in runs scored (71) and games started (118) and 18th in RBI (81).
Shortstop
Jessica Arcangel (Chino, Calif. – 2010-13)
Arcangel's Career Stats
In the first four years of the decade, Arcangel earns her spot on the All-Decade Team at shortstop after being a three-time All-SLIAC honoree, including earning First-Team All-SLIAC honors in 2010. Along with earning three All-SLIAC selections, she was named the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2010. With her SLIAC Newcomer of the Year accolade, she became the fifth Gorlok in school history to earn that recognition from the league. As a Gorlok, Arcangel played in 137 games and made 133 starts, including playing in and starting every game in both 2010 and 2011. She closed her career with a .351 batting average and recorded 135 career hits, scored 88 runs, hit 18 doubles, hit 10 home runs, recorded 91 RBI and drew 54 career walks. Her 53 walks are tied for third on the school's all-time list, while she is ninth in career assists (137), tied for 10th in career hits (135), 11th in both career games played (137) and runs scored (88), tied for 11th in career at-bats (385), 12th in career RBI (91), 13th in career total bases (185) and tied for 13th in career home runs (10). As a freshman in 2010, she hit .435 and that .435 batting average is 10th on the school's single season chart.
Third Base
Katelyn Johnson (Cambridge, Ill. – 2016-17)
Johnson's Career Stats
Johnson played just two seasons at Webster after transferring from Illinois Valley Community College and in those two seasons, she was an All-SLIAC selection as a senior in 2017 at third base. In her two seasons, she played in and made 74 starts and in those 74 games, she was a career .324 hitter as she recorded 79 career hits, scored 48 runs, hit 16 doubles, three triples, four home runs and tallied 43 RBI. Additionally, her 121 career assists are 11th in school history, while her 96 assists in 2017 are most in a single season in school history. Against Iowa Wesleyan in 2017, she recorded six assists and those six assists are tied for eighth most in a game in school history.
Catcher
Kaytlin Buczak (Kankakee, Ill. – 2010-13)
Buczak's Career Stats
Buczak played the first four years of the decade for the Gorloks and in those four years, she was one of five players in school history and the only Gorlok in the decade to be a four-time All-SLIAC selection. Along with her four All-SLIAC selections, she also named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team in 2012 after leading the Gorloks to a runner-up finish and she earned a SLIAC Hitter of the Week accolade in 2013. In her four years at Webster, Buczak played in 138 games and made 134 starts and those 134 starts are 10th most in the program's history, while the 138 games played are 14th most in school history. During her career, she had 379 at-bats, recorded 86 hits, scored 49 runs, hit 29 doubles, six home runs and had 46 career RBI. She ranks third in school history in putouts (579), fourth in career fielding chances (636), sixth in career doubles (29), 13th in career at-bats (379) and is tied for 19th in career home runs (6). Her 225 putouts in 2011 are tied for second on the school's single season chart, while her 11 doubles in 2010 are tied for 12th on the school's single season chart.
Terri Dearth (Lemont, Ill. – 2017-18)

The other catching spot on the All-Decade Team goes to Terri Dearth as she played two seasons with the Gorloks from 2017-18 after transferring from Southwestern Illinois College. Dearth, who also lettered in basketball at Webster, was a First-Team All-SLIAC selection as a senior in 2018. Along with earning first team All-SLIAC honors, she also was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team in 2018. In her two seasons, she played in 67 games and made 59 starts, including playing in and starting 33 games in 2018. She was a career. 354 hitter as she recorded 64 career hits, scored 57 career runs, hit 20 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and had 46 RBI. In addition, she drew 24 walks and was 13-for-14 on the stolen bases, including going 8-for-9 on steals in 2018. Her 12 career hit by pitches is second in school history, while her .652 slugging percentage is 5th in school history and her 10 career home runs are tied for 13th on the school's all-time list. Additionally, he 20 career doubles are tied for 16th on the school's career list. Against Bluffton in 2018, she recorded 6 RBI and those 6 RBI are tied for fifth on the school's single game chart, while her eight home runs in 2018 are tied for ninth on the school's single season chart.
Outfielders
Abby Burroughs (Edwardsville, Ill. – 2017-present)
Burroughs' Career Stats
The only current Gorlok player to earn a spot on the All-Decade Team, Burroughs has played the past four years at Webster, including the last three years of the decade. Burroughs, who had her senior year in 2020 cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will return to compete her playing career in 2021. In her time as a Gorlok, Burroughs has been a three-time All-SLIAC selection and was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team as a freshman in 2017 and was named to the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team as a junior in 2019. In addition, she took home a SLIAC Hitter of the Week accolade in 2017 and has been a three-time selection to the SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team as he was honored in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Additionally, she has been a three-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in 2020. In her first three years as a Gorlok, Burroughs played in all 112 games and made 111 starts and in those 112 games, she hit .334 and recorded 113 hits, scored 88 runs, hit 24 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and recorded 82 RBI. In addition, she drew 48 walks and struck just 42 times in 338 at-bats. Combining her numbers from 2017-19 with her statistics from the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, Burroughs has played in 126 career games and made 125 starts and has tallied 125 career hits, scored 97 runs, hit 26 career doubles, hit three career triples, 17 career home runs and has had 89 career RBI. She also has walked 53 times and struck out just 46 times in 377 career at-bats. She currently sits tied for third on the school's all-time walks list (53), sixth in career home runs (17), eighth in career doubles (26), ninth in career runs scored (97), 10th in career total bases (208), 13th in career slugging percentage (.552), tied for 13th in both games started (125) and career RBI (89) and is 15th in career hits with 125. She is one of nine players in school history that has recorded 125 career hits and scored 95 career runs. Rapped out 57 hits as a freshman in 2017 are those 57 hits are tied for second on the school's single season chart.
Rachel Franck (Florissant, Mo. – 2013-14)
Franck's Career Stats
Franck played two seasons as a Gorlok near the middle of the decade and along with being an outfielder, she was also a pitcher as she made 18 career appearances in those two years in the circle. In her two seasons at Webster, she was a two-time All-SLIAC selection, including earning First-Team All-SLIAC honors in 2014. Along with her two All-SLIAC selections, she earned SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team honors in 2014 and was a two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in both 2013 and 2014. Additionally, she was a two-time SLIAC Hitter of the Week and also earned a SLIAC Pitcher of the Week accolade in 2013. In her two seasons, Franck played in and started 62 games, including playing in and starting all 32 games in 2014. She is the school's all-time leader in career batting average as he hit .424 in her two seasons, including hitting .427 during the 2014 campaign. At the plate, along with hitting .424, she recorded 92 career hits, scored 53 runs, hit six doubles, two triples and had 36 RBI. In addition, she drew 11 walks and was 30-for-32 in career stolen bases. The 30 stolen bases are tied for 14th on the school's all-time list. Meanwhile, as a pitcher, she posted a 2.09 career ERA as she was 10-4 and made 18 career appearances and 11 career starts. In 63.2 innings of work, she allowed 62 hits, 34 runs, 19 earned runs, walked 18 and struck out 43. Her career 2.09 ERA is eighth on the school's all-time list, while her 10 wins are 19th in school history and her .246 opponents' batting average is ninth on the school's career chart. In 2013, she went 6-1 with an 0.66 ERA and that 0.66 ERA is second on the school's single season chart.
Katelyn Sullens (Highland, Ill. – 2016-17)

Sullens, who transferred to Webster from Southwestern Illinois, lettered for two years as a Gorlok from 2016-17 and in those two seasons, she was earned All-SLIAC honors in both years, including earning First-Team All-SLIAC accolades in 2016. Along with being a two-time All-SLIAC selection, she was also a two-time SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team selection and also a two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. In addition, she took home a SLIAC Hitter of the Week honor during the 2016 season. In her two seasons as a Gorlok, she played in and started all 80 games in those two years and in those 80 games, she recorded 94 career hits, scored 68 runs, hit 12 doubles, four home runs, had 47 RBI and posted a career batting average of .375, including hitting .430 as a junior in 2016. Her .430 batting average in 2016 is 12th on the school's single season chart. Additionally, she drew 43 walks and was 10-for-11 in stolen bases. She ranks fourth in school history in career on-base percentage (.472), is tied for seventh in career hit by pitches (7), tied for 13th in career walks (43) and 15th in career batting average (.375). Her .529 on-base percentage in 2016 is third best in a single season in school history, while her 23 walks in 2017 are tied for third in a single season in program history and five hit by pitches in 2016 is tied for fourth on the school's single season chart.
Utility Players
Erin McGinnis (Fenton, Mo. – 2013-16)
McGinnis' Career Stats
McGinnis played in the middle part of the decade and in her four years as a Gorlok, she was a First-Team All-SLIAC selection in 2016. In addition to earning a First-Team All-SLIAC accolade in 2016, she was also a two-time SLIAC Hitter of the Week during the 2014 season. During her four year career, McGinnis, who is currently an assistant for the Gorlok softball team, played in 105 games and made 102 starts and in those 105 games, she was a career .345 hitter and recorded 108 hits, scored 86 runs, hit 14 doubles, one triple, two home runs and tallied 55 RBI. Additionally, she drew 36 walks and was 24-for-28 in stolen bases. Her 86 runs scored are 12th most in school history, while her 36 walks are tied for 16th in school history, her 24 stolen bases are tied for 17th in school history and her 108 career hits are 18th in school history. McGinnis played a different position all four years at Webster as she played left field, right field, shortstop and first base.
Molly Muntz (Streator, Ill. – 2013-14)
Muntz's Career Stats
Muntz was another all-purpose player for the Gorloks as in her two years at Webster, she played both in the outfield and was the primary catcher in 2014. In her two years as a Gorlok, Muntz was a two-time All-SLIAC selection, including earning First-Team All-SLIAC accolades in 2014. During the 2014 season, she hit .352 with 37 hits, scored 20 runs, hit three doubles and had 21 RBI in 32 games. She played in 67 games and made 66 starts in her two year career and in those 67 games, she hit .329 and recorded 70 career hits, scored 42 runs, hit eight career doubles, one career home run and tallied 42 career RBI. Additionally, she drew 17 walks and was 6-for-7 in stolen bases.
Pitchers
Morgan Mansur (Decatur, Ill. – 2017-18)
Mansur's Career Stats
Mansur played for two seasons as a Gorlok from 2017-18 after transferring from Lincoln Land Community College. In her two years at Webster, she was a two-time All-SLIAC selection and was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team in 2018. Along with her two All-SLIAC selections, she was named to the SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team in both 2017 and 2018 and also was a two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, she was a three-time SLIAC Pitcher of the Week, including earning the honor twice during the 2017 season. In her Webster career, she made 41 appearances and 30 starts in the circle and recorded a 21-11 career record and a 2.97 career ERA. In her 41 appearances, she tossed 19 complete games, six shutouts and in 205.1 career innings, she allowed 238 hits, 118 runs, 87 earned runs, while walking 61 and striking out 122, including recording 11 strikeouts against Iowa Wesleyan in 2018. Those 11 strikeouts are tied for fifth on the school's single game chart. She ranks ninth in both career strikeouts (122) and shutouts (9) and is 11th in career wins (21) and 12th in career innings pitched (205.1). In addition, he 2.97 career ERA is 13th in school history and her 41 career appearances are tied for 14th in school history. Along with her success as a pitcher, Mansur was also a strong hitter at the plate as she recorded a .289 career batting average with 24 career hits, 18 career runs, hit eight career doubles, hit two home runs and had 13 career RBI in 83 career at-bats. She is also tied for the school record in single game doubles as she had three doubles at WashU in 2018.
Ashley Meagher (Dupo, Ill. – 2010-12)

Meagher earns a spot on the All-Decade Team as a pitcher after playing the first three years of the decade for the Gorloks. In her three years with the Gorloks, she was a three-time All-SLIAC selection, including earning First-Team All-SLIAC accolades in both 2011 and 2012. Along with her three All-SLIAC selections, she took home the SLIAC Pitcher of the Year honor in 2011 and was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team in 2010. Additionally, she earned four SLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors, including taking home three of those honors in 2011. In her career, she made 57 appearances, 42 starts and compiled a 24-19 overall record and a 3.56 ERA. Meagher also recorded 30 complete games, tossed three shutouts and had one save and in 281.1 career innings, she allowed 329 hits, 188 runs, 143 earned runs, while walking 109 and striking out 202 batters. In 2011, she went 11-6 with a 2.88 ERA and tossed 12 complete games and had 87 strikeouts and walked 34. Her 5.03 strikeouts per 7 innings, 30 complete games and 202 strikeouts are all sixth on the school's all-time list, while her 42 starts and 281.1 innings pitched are seventh on the school's all-time list. In addition, he 57 appearances are tied for eighth on the school's all-time list and her 24 wins are ninth-most in school history.
Trisha Thompson (Glendale, Ariz. – 2011-2013)
Thompson's Career Stats
In the first part of the decade, Thompson became one of the top pitchers in school history as during her time as a Gorlok, she was a three-time All-SLIAC selection. Along with being a three-time All-SLIAC selection, she was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team in 2011 and was a three-time SLIAC Pitcher of the Week in 2011 and 2012, including earning two honors during the 2011 season. In addition, she was a two-time SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team selection in 2012 and 2013 and was named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2013. As a Gorlok, she made 62 career appearances and 46 starts in the circle. In those 62 appearances, she posted a 25-22 career record, had three career saves, tossed 37 complete games, 14 shutouts and tallied a 3.06 career ERA. In 322.2 innings of work, she allowed 298 hits, 170 runs, 141 earned runs, while walking 68 and striking out a school record 325 batters. In addition to holding the school record for career strikeouts, she tallied a school record 7.05 strikeouts per 7 innings and is second on the school's all-time chart in shutouts (14) and is tied for fourth in career saves (3). Additionally, her 62 appearances are fifth-most in school history, while her 37 complete games and 322.2 innings pitched are both fifth in school history and her 25 wins are tied for seventh-most in school history. Her 3.06 career ERA is 14th on the school's all-time chart. Thompson also holds the school's single season record for strikeouts as she had 175 in 2013, along with also holding the school's single game strikeout mark as he tallied 18 strikeouts against Grinnell in 2013 and averaged a school record 8.67 strikeouts per 7 innings in 2013.
