Gorloks Fall in Exhibition Game

COLUMBIA, Mo. – This afternoon the Webster University men's basketball team was back in action when they traveled to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Columbia (Mo.) College Cougars in an exhibition game. The Gorloks were defeated by the Cougars by a final score of 91-71. The win moves the Cougars to 5-6 on the season.

The Gorloks went 27-for-69 (39.1%) from the floor and 9-for-24 (37.5%) from behind the arc. They were outrebounded 50-31 and turned the ball over nine times. They also forced the Cougars to turn the ball over nine times in the contest.

The Gorloks came out in the first half and matched the Cougars point-for-point. With the score tied at 16, the Cougars went on a 12-3 run to take a 28-19 lead midway through the half. Webster battled back and cut the lead to five, but another run from the Cougars put them up 41-30 at the break.

Columbia continued to push the tempo to start the second half and were able to grow their lead to 17 with 14 minutes to play in the game. Webster was able to cut the lead to single digits with just over eight minutes to play, but the Cougars answered with a 12-1 run to push their lead out to 20. The Gorloks did their best to get back into the contest but the Cougars were able to close them out down the stretch to solidify the win.

Wynne Brown Jr. led the way for the Gorloks as he finished with a team high 20 points. In addition to Brown Jr., Mark Moore finished with 14 points, Karl Moore Jr. finished with a team high seven rebounds, and Bryce Woolridge added nine points to round out the top performers for Webster.

The Gorloks will return to the court on Saturday, December 4th when they travel to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to take on the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks in an exhibition game. The contest is set to start at 2 p.m.
