Gorloks Drop Road Contest at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, Mo. – This evening the Webster University men's basketball team was back on the court when they traveled to Rolla, Missouri, to take on the NCAA Division II Missouri S&T Miners in a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were defeated by the Miners by a final score of 95-56 to fall to 1-7 on the season. With the win, the Miners improve to 3-5 on the season.

The Gorloks went 21-for-62 (33.9%) from the floor and 7-for-20 (35.0%) from behind the arc. They were outrebounded 49-30 and turned the ball over 16 times in the game. They forced the Miners to turn the ball over 12 times while dishing out 13 assists in the contest.

The Gorloks came out in the first half and were able to score the first two points of the game. However, the Miners answered by scoring the next 18 points of the contest and held an 18-2 lead with 13 minutes to play in the half. Webster battled back and were able to cut the lead to 10, but a 9-2 run from Missouri S&T put them up 33-16 late in the period. The Miners pushed their lead to as many as 21 late in the half and took a 44-27 lead into the locker room.

Webster picked it up to start the second half as they went on a 9-3 run to open the frame to cut the Miners lead to 11. However, the Miners bounced back and extended their lead back out to 17 with just over 14 minutes to play in the game. Webster had a tough time getting anything going as the game progressed and the Miners extended their lead to as many as 40 before cruising to the win.

Mark Moore led the way for the Gorloks as he finished with a team high 12 points. In addition to Moore, Karl Moore Jr. finished with 11 points and five rebounds, Wynne Brown Jr. finished with 11 points, and Javane Nugent added five rebounds to round out the top performers for Webster.

The Gorloks are back in action on Saturday, December 18th when they host the Carthage (Wis.) College Firebirds for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 3 p.m. in Grant Gymnasium.
