LEBANON, Ill. - Webster University continued its women's outdoor track and field season here Friday by placing 11th out of 15 teams at the McKendree Bearcat Invitational hosted by McKendree University and held at Leemon Field.
At the event that featured a mix of NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior colleges, the Gorloks scored a total of 11 points as they scored in three of the 10 events they entered.
NCAA Division II Lincoln University took home the team title with 100 points, while McKendree placed second with 99 points and Maryville (Mo.) University was third with 94.5 points.
Eight of Webster's 11 points came in the 5,000-meter run as
Kyanne Ruth Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Affton) placed second in the event with a time of 19:58.61. It was the first time in her collegiate career that she ran a sub 20 minute time in the 5,000 meters.
Junior
Megan Bartz (St. Louis, Mo./Lindbergh) scored two points in the 800-meter run as she ran a time of 2:35.68 to place ninth overall in the event. In addition to Bartz, junior
Lindsay Poitras (Imperial, Mo./Fox) was 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:41.54.
Webster's other point was scored by senior
Vanessa Jones (Orlando, Fla./Lake Minneola) was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.02. In addition to the 400-meter hurdles, Jones was also ninth in 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.05. Senior
Elena Hutson (Scottsboro, Ala./Scottsboro) was 12th in the 100-meter hurdles (17.91) and 13th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:21.09).
Junior
Jordan Lande (Sachse, Texas/Sachse) placed in the Top 20 in two events as she was 17th in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:08.43 and placed 20th in the 200-meter run with a time of 28.86. Junior
Sady Bayne (Sierra Vista, Ariz./Buena) was 18th in the 400-meter run (1:12.46).
Freshman
Lilly Aguilar (Whittier, Calif./Whittier) placed 15th in the discus with a mark of 82'2" (25.04 meters) and 20th in the shot put with a mark of 27'2.75" (8.30 meters).
The Gorloks will continue its outdoor track season next Saturday, April 10 as they compete at the Lindenwood University Invitational in St. Charles, Mo.
