LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Webster University women's soccer team was back in action this evening when they traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the Spalding (Ky.) University Golden Eagles for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks were able to win their third straight game as they defeated the Golden Eagles by a final score of 1-0 to improve to 7-5-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in conference play.
Webster outshot Spalding 17-3 and put 10 shots on target. The also led in the corner count as they finished with nine while the Golden Eagles finished with three.
After a scoreless first half, the Gorloks were able to score the lone goal of the game in the 53
rd minute of action. Webster earned a free kick and played a short ball to
Reaghan Young running down the sideline. She played a cross into the box where she found
Jordan Lande who volleyed the ball into the side netting for her seventh tally of the season. The assist was Young's sixth of the season and her ninth point in her last six games.
Taryn Banfield was in goal tonight for the Gorloks as she made three saves in her third straight shutout.
The Gorloks will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 8
th when they play host to the Fontbonne (Mo.) University Griffins for a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 1 p.m. at WWT Soccer Park.
