HILTON HEAD, S.C. – This afternoon the Webster University men's tennis team was back on the court when they took on Oswega State (N.Y.) University in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Gorloks defeated the Lakers by a final score of 6-3 to improve to 4-5 on the season.
The Gorloks went 2-1 in the doubles portion of the match as they won #1 doubles and #3 doubles.
Riley Muren and
Matthew Birchmeier picked up the win in #1 doubles as they defeated Anthony Salerno and Justin Schwab by a final score of 8-2.
Aaron Demarco and
Chase Boushard added a win in #3 doubles as they defeated Raymond Paull and Luis Liriano by a final score of 8-3.
The Gorloks also had success in the singles portion of the match as they won #1 singles, #4 singles, #5 singles, and #6 singles.
Riley Muren won #1 singles over Anthony Salerno by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
Tanner Haugen won #4 singles after defeating Ethan Bannochie by final scores of 6-3 and 6-2.
Andrew McDonald won #5 singles over Raymond Paull by final scores of 6-3 and 6-3. Lastly,
Chase Boushard won #6 singles over Luis Lariano by final scores of 6-2 and 6-2.
The men's tennis team returns to the court tomorrow, March 18
th when they take on Ithaca (N.Y.) College for their final match of their spring break trip. The match is set to start at 1:30 p.m. EST at Hilton Head Resort.
