ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team played three matches over the last two days including bouts against Evangel (Mo.) University, Illinois College, and Kaskaskia (Ill.) College. The Gorloks were 2-1 in those matches as they fell to Evangel by a final score of 6-1, defeated Illinois College by a final score of 9-0, and defeated Kaskaskia by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 7-7 on the year.
The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going against Evangel as they were swept in the doubles portion of the match.
Riley Muren and
Matthew Birchmeier fell in #1 singles by a final score of 6-2,
Carson Fisher and
Tanner Haugen fell in #2 doubles by a final score of 6-2, and
Andrew McDonald and
Chase Boushard dropped #3 doubles by a final score of 6-3.
Andrew McDonald picked up the lone win for the for the Gorloks in #6 singles as he defeated Jarrett Teal by final scores of 6-3, 0-6, and 10-7 to solidify the win.
The Gorloks bounced back on Sunday morning to sweep Illinois College.

Tanner Haugen and
Carson Fisher won #2 doubles by a final score of 8-1, and
Aaron Demarco and
Andrew McDonald won #3 doubles by a final score of 8-0.
Webster carried over their momentum into the singles portion of the match as
Riley Muren won #1 singles (6-4, 6-2),
Carson Fisher won #2 singles (6-0, 6-1),
Matthew Birchmeier won #3 singles (7-5, 6-1),
Tanner Haugen won #4 singles (6-0, 6-0),
Aaron Demarco won #5 singles (6-2, 6-0), and
Chase Boushard won #6 singles (6-1, 6-1).
The Gorloks continued to play well in their Sunday night match against Kaskaskia (Ill.) College as they swept doubles.

Webster finished off the weekend with a sweep in singles against the Blue Devils.

The Gorloks will return to the court on Saturday, April 2
nd when they host the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (Mo.) Eutectics and Oakland City (Ind.) University for a doubleheader. The first match is set to start at 9 a.m. with the second to start at 5 p.m. at Webster Groves Recreational Complex.
