Gorloks Remain 12th for Third Straight Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This morning the D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll for week 7 was released. The Gorloks remained 12th for the third straight week after winning four straight games since the last poll was released. Marietta (Ohio) remained in the top spot for the fourth straight week after starting their season with a 23-3 overall record.

The Gorloks currently have an 18-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They have won eight straight games including back-to-back conference series sweeps over Westminster (Mo.) College and Blackburn (Ill.) College. They currently sit behind Fontbonne (Mo.) University for second place in the conference with a three-game series set to be played against the Griffins next weekend.

The Gorloks currently rank 14th nationally with a team earned run average of 3.46. They also rank in the top 50 in fielding percentage (0.966), hits allowed per nine innings (8.29), strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.53), WHIP (1.28), and walks allowed per nine innings (3.22). In addition, they lead the SLIAC in all six statistical categories.

The Gorloks are back in action on Thursday, April 14th when they travel to Bloomington, Illinois to take on the 18th ranked Aurora (Ill.) University Spartans for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. at Illinois Wesleyan University.
