Gorloks Draw With Blue Jays

ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The Webster University women's soccer team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks and the Blue Jays tied 1-1 as Webster improved to 3-4-1 on the season and 0-2-1 in SLIAC play. The Blue Jays improve to 3-3-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in conference play.

The Gorloks outshot the Blue Jays by a final count of 20-7 and put seven shots on target compared to six from Westminster. Webster also won the corner count as they finished with eight while the Blue Jays finished with three.

Webster got on the board early in this one as they were able to find the back of the net in the 14th minute of the game. Jordan Lande and Mackenzie O'Neal played a quick give-and-go at the top of the box which led to Lande placing a shot in the bottom corner of the net for her fourth tally of the season. The goal was the 53rd of her career which is fourth all-time in Webster history.

The Gorloks played tough defense throughout most of the game, but the Blue Jays tied the score at one in the 70th minute. Webster tried their best to retake the lead, but were unable to capitalize as the game ended in a draw.

Taryn Banfield was the starting keeper in this one as she made five saves in the game.

The Gorloks are back in action on Tuesday, September 28th when they travel to Eureka, Illinois, to take on the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils for a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 3 p.m.
