Gorloks Defeat Knights in Wisconsin

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – The Webster University men's basketball team was back in action this afternoon when they traveled to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, to take on the Martin Luther (Minn.) College Knights for their final game of the Milwaukee Bucks Shootout. The Gorloks defeated the Knights by a final score of 77-63 to improve to 3-8 on the year. With the loss, the Knights drip to 1-9 on the season.

The Gorloks went 29-for-64 (45.3%) from the floor and 4-for-14 (28.6%) from behind the arc. They were outrebounded by a final count of 40-36 with 10 of their rebounds coming on the offensive end. Webster forced 11 turnovers in the game and dished out 12 assists.

The Gorloks came out in the first half and jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. They continued to play well as the half progressed and grew their lead to 10 midway through the frame. The Knights would battle back and cut the lead to six, but a 17-7 run to end the half would put Webster up 42-26 at the break.

Webster carried their momentum over into the second half and started the period on an 8-2 run to push their lead to 22. The Knights would bounce back over the next few minutes and responded with a 12-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 10. The Gorloks would push their lead out to 15 over the next few minutes, but a 14-4 run from the Knights would put them down five with six minutes to play in the game. The Gorloks answered with a 7-2 run of their own to extend their lead back to 10 and never let the Knights back in the game as they held them off down the stretch to solidify the win.

The Gorloks had nine different players find the basket in this one including four players in double figures. Nate Jones led the way as he finished with a team high 17 points. Jemard Sykes II, Jalen Davis, and Karl Moore Jr. also finished in double figures as Sykes II had 12 points, Davis has 11 points, and Moore Jr. had 10 points. Moore Jr. also added eight rebounds to go along with eight rebounds from Alpha Diallo.

The Gorloks will take some time off for the holidays and return to action on Saturday, December 30th when they travel to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Columbia (Mo.) College Cougars for an exhibition game. The game is set to start at 3 p.m.
