GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Webster University women's basketball team was back in action this evening when they traveled across the river to Greenville, Illinois, to take on the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Panthers by a final score of 98-59 to improve to 18-2 on the season and 8-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. With the loss, the Panthers drop to 14-6 on the year and 7-2 in conference play.

Webster went 38-for-72 (52.8%) from the floor and 9-for-24 (37.5%) from behind the arc. The Gorloks and the Panthers both pulled down 37 rebounds with Webster grabbing 10 on the offensive end. Webster forced Greenville to turn the ball over 27 times and turned those turnovers into 36 points on the other end of the floor. The Gorloks scored 50 of their 98 points in the paint and dished out 25 assists.

Webster came out in the first quarter and played well from the start as they started the game on an 11-2 run to take an early lead in the contest. The Panthers bounced back and cut the lead to six, but a 9-0 run from the Gorloks to end the period put them up 25-11 heading into the second. Webster carried over their momentum into the second and extended their lead to 18 midway through the quarter. The Panthers cut it to 13, but a 14-5 run from Webster to end the half gave them a 47-25 lead at the break.

Webster came out of the locker room and started the half on a 10-4 run to push their lead to 28 midway through the third. The Panthers would end the quarter on a 16-10 run, but the Gorloks would take a 67-45 lead into the fourth. Webster would extend their lead to 39 in the fourth and would cruise to their sixth straight win.

Julie Baudendistel led the way for Webster as she finished with a career high 30 points to go along with a game high 10 rebounds. She is the first Gorlok to score more then 30 points in a game since Addison Beussink did so in back-to-back games in the 2020-21 season. In addition to Baudendistel, Bethany Lancaster finished with 14 points, Nysa Gilchrist added 12 points, and Trinniti Matthews finished with 10 points. Gilchrist also finished with a game high five assists.

The Gorloks will be back in action on Saturday, February 4th when they travel down Big Bend to take on the Fontbonne (Mo.) University Griffins for the SLIAC Game of the Week. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
