Gorloks Improve to 6-3 on the Year

Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Eagles by a final score of 8-1 to improve to 6-3 on the season. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 0-5 on the year.

Webster got off to a great start in doubles as they took two out of three matches. Erin Brezovar and Bailey Higgins defeated Annie Nelligan and Tatum Hatridge in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-2. Emma Ferguson and Kylie Chitwood won #2 doubles over Lea Terrell and Emily Sansiseng by a final score of 8-4. Maddie Mena and Bailee Pineda could not complete the sweep as they dropped #3 doubles to Kelsey Smith and Erika Jones by a final score of 8-4.

The Gorloks carried over their momentum into singles as they swept all six matches. Erin Brezovar won #1 singles over Annie Nelligan by final scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Emma Ferguson defeated Tatum Hatridge in #2 singles by final scores of 7-6 (3) and 7-5. Bailey Higgins won #3 singles after defeating Emily Sansiseng by final scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Kylie Chitwood took down Lea Terrell in #4 singles by final scores of 4-6, 7-6 (5), and 11-9. Maddie Mena and Bailee Pineda rounded out the sweep for the Gorloks as Mena won #5 singles by final scores of 6-4 and 6-4 while Pineda won #6 singles by final scores of 7-5 and 6-3.

The Gorloks will return to the court tomorrow, February 25th when they travel to St. Clair, Illinois, to take on the McKendree (Ill.) University Bearcats for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 5 p.m. at the St. Clair Racquet Club.
