HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action this morning when they took on the Ramapo (N.J.) College Roadrunners for their second match of their spring break trip. The Gorloks defeated the Roadrunners by a final score of 5-4 to improve to 5-8 on the season.
The Gorloks got off to a good start in doubles as they took two out of three matches. After dropping #1 doubles,
Carson Fisher and
Britton Struewing won #2 doubles over Matthew Doran and Alejandro Pacheco by a final score of 8-3.
Alex Magrath and
Nicholas Granada picked up the second win in doubles for the Gorloks as they defeated Bobby Ciarletta and Nate Cooper in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-6.
Webster then went on to take three matches in singles.
Alex Pinkston picked up the win in #1 singles as he defeated Siddharth Byreddy by final scores of 6-4 and 7-6 (3). After dropping #2 and #3 singles,
Matthew Birchmeier was able to get the win in #4 singles as he defeated Alejandro Pacheco by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
Britton Struewing picked up the final point for Webster as he defeated Bobby Ciarletta in #5 singles by final scores of 6-1, 1-6, and 13-11.
The Gorloks will return to the court on Thursday, March 16
th when they take on the Randolph (Va.) College Wildcats. The match is set to start at 1:30 p.m. EST at Hilton Head Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
