HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University men's tennis team continued play on their spring break trip this afternoon when they took on Randolph (Va.) College for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were able to stay unbeaten on their trip as they defeated the Wildcats by a final score of 8-1 to improve to 6-8 on the season.
The Gorloks got off to a great start as they took all three doubles matches.
Alex Pinkston and
Matthew Birchmeier won #1 doubles as they defeated Nicolas Alvarado and Dev Mani by a final score of 8-2.
Carson Fisher and
Britton Struewing won #2 doubles as they defeated Jose Merhej and Angelo De Asis by a final score of 8-5.
Alex Magrath and
Nicholas Granada completed the doubles sweep as they defeated Max Karrass and Luke Mosley in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-0.
Webster then went on to take five out six matches in singles.
Alex Pinkston won #1 singles as he defeated Nicolas Alvarado by final scores of 6-1 and 7-6.
Nicholas Granada won #3 singles as he defeated Angelo De Asis by final scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
Matthew Birchmeier picked up the win in #4 singles as he defeated Max Karrass by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
Britton Struewing won #5 singles as he defeated Jose Merhej by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2. Lastly,
Robert McDaniel won #6 singles after defeating Luke Mosley by final scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
The Gorloks return to the court tomorrow, March 17
th when they play a doubleheader in Hilton Head to wrap up their spring break trip. The Gorloks will take on the University of Lynchburg (Va.) at 8 a.m. EST and Dickinson (Pa.) College at 1 p.m. at Hilton Head High School.
