ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action this morning when they played host to the Baker (Kan.) University Wildcats for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Wildcats by a final score of 5-4 to improve to 7-9 on the season.
The Gorloks started off the match by notching two out of three points in doubles.
Alex Pinkston and
Matthew Birchmeier won #1 doubles over Alejandro Hernandez and Juan Manuel Avila by a final score of 8-6.
Alex Magrath and
Nicholas Granada won #3 doubles over Kyle Konsanke and Ann Nguyen by a final score of 8-4.
The Gorloks went on to take three out of six matches in singles.
Alex Pinkston won #1 singles over Alejandro Hernandez by final scores of 6-2 and 7-5.
Britton Struewing won #5 singles over Kyler Konsanke by final scores of 6-2 and 6-2. Lastly,
Robert McDaniel won #6 singles over Ann Nguyen by final scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
The Gorloks will return to the court tomorrow, March 26
th when they host Kaskaskia (Ill.) College for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 11 a.m. at Webster Groves Recreational Complex.
