FULTON, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action tonight when they traveled to Fulton, Missouri, to take on the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for their final two matches of the regular season. The Gorloks swept the two matches as they won the first match by a final score of 9-0 and the second match by a final score of 5-0. They improve to 11-13 on the season and 1-2 in UMAC play.
The Gorloks played well to start the first match as they captured all three points in doubles.
Alex Pinkston and
Matthew Birchmeier won #1 doubles as they defeated Cooper Pennington and John Stannard by a final score of 8-0.
Carson Fisher and
Britton Struewing won #2 doubles as they defeated Aiden Peterson and Jacob Becker by a final score of 8-0. Lastly,
Nicholas Granada and
Alex Magrath completed the sweep as they won #3 doubles by forfeit.
The Gorloks carried over their momentum into singles and were able to capture all six points.
Alex Pinkston won #1 singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0,
Carson Fisher won #2 singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-3,
Nicholas Granada won #3 singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-3,
Matthew Birchmeier won #4 singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-0,
Alex Magrath won #5 singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-0, and
Britton Struewing won #6 singles by forfeit.
Webster went on to have similar success in the second match as they started off with a doubles sweep.

The Gorloks did not play any singles matches as they were able to capture the win with forfeits from the Blue Jays in #5 and #6 singles.

Alex Magrath were credited with the wins.
The Gorloks will return to the court Friday, April 21
st when they compete in the UMAC South Division Semifinal at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The time of the match and the opponent has not yet been announced.
