ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action last night when they traveled to Elsah, Illinois, to take on the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers for their first UMAC match of the season. The Gorloks fell to the Panthers by a final score of 8-1 to drop to 9-12 on the year.

Matthew Birchmeier got the Gorloks off to a great start in the match as they defeated Juan Segovia and Kuda Sandi in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-3. Webster went on to drop #2 doubles by a final score of 8-1 and #3 doubles by a final score of 8-4.
The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going in singles as the Panthers picked up all six points.
Alex Pinkston fell in #1 singles to Juan Segovia by final scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
Carson Fisher fell in #2 singles to Kuda Sandi by final scores of 6-1 and 6-3.
Nicholas Granada dropped #3 singles to Jesus Soto Bossa by final scores of 6-1 and 6-1.
Matthew Birchmeier fell in #4 singles to Ernesto Botero by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
Britton Struewing lost #5 singles to Rafter Sprague by scores of 7-5 and 6-2. Lastly,
Robert McDaniel fell in #6 singles to Alvero Martin Moliz by scores of 6-1 and 6-1.
The Gorloks will return to the court this afternoon when they host the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (Mo.) at Webster Groves Recreational Complex. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
