ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action this evening when they played host to the Anderson (Ind.) University Ravens for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were defeated by the Ravens by a final score of 7-2 to fall to 1-3 on the year. With the win, the Ravens move to 3-0 on the year.
Webster got off to a tough start in doubles as they were swept in all three matches.
Matthew Birchmeier and
Ethan Foucheaux fell in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-4,
Carson Fisher and
Tyler Gonzales lost in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-3, and
Robert McDaniel and
Joseph West fell in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-1.
The Gorloks went on to take two out of six matches in singles.
Ethan Foucheaux got Webster on the board as he defeated Sarvar Muzaffarov by final scores of 6-3 and 6-2.
Andrew McDonald picked up the final point for Webster as he defeated Will Fosnot in #6 singles by final scores of 6-3 and 6-3.
The team will be back in action from September 29
th to October 1
st when they compete in the ITA Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The tournament schedule has not yet been announced.
