TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Webster University women's soccer team was back in action this evening when they traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) Fightin' Engineers for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks and Rose-Hulman finished deadlocked at three after 90 minutes as Webster improves to 3-2-1 on the season while the Fightin' Engineers move to 2-0-4 on the year.
Rose-Hulman outshot the Gorloks 20-8 in the game and put nine shots on target compared to five from Webster. The Fightin' Engineers also led in the corner count as they had 10 while the Gorloks finished with three.
The Fightin' Engineers came out in the first half and got on the board first as they scored in the 27
th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead in the match. They added two more goals over the next eight minutes and Rose-Hulman would take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
Webster picked it up to start the second half and were able to cut the lead to 3-1 just six minutes into the period after an own goal from the Fightin' Engineers.
Grace Rodgers was the last Gorlok to touch it as she played a corner kick into the box where it hit off a Rose-Hulman defender and went into the back of the net.
Rodgers was back at it again just five minutes later as she received a ball out of the back, let it bounce, and volleyed her shot past the Rose-Hulman keeper and into the back of the net for her second tally of the season.
Payton Harting had the assist for Webster, her first of the year.
Isabella Dickneite tied the game for Webster as she finished off a corner kick in the 74
th minute for her second goal of the year.
Grace Rodgers had the assist for Webster, her second of the season.
Courtney Haneline (5-2) was in goal for Webster as she recorded six saves in the match.
The Gorloks will be back in action on Tuesday, September 26
th when they host Blackburn (Ill.) College for their SLIAC opener. The game is set to kick off at 5 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
