ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the Preseason Coaches' Poll for the upcoming women's indoor and outdoor track and field season. The Gorloks are picked to finished sixth in the SLIAC after receiving 43 votes in the poll.
The Gorloks will return six student-athletes from last years team that finished in second place in both the SLIAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Of the six returners, three earned All-SLIAC honors last season including:
Isabelle Llewellyn (Outdoor – Discus / Indoor – weight throw)
Olivia Nelsen (Outdoor – 400mH, 4x400 / Indoor – 4x400)
Kianna Patton (Outdoor – 4x400 / Indoor – 4x400)
In addition to the six returners, the Gorloks will welcome three freshman to the team.
Greenville (Ill.) University was picked to win the SLIAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships for the fourth season in a row. Fontbonne (Mo.) University, Principia (Ill.) College, Spalding (Ky.) University, and Eureka (Ill.) College were picked to finish second thru fifth, respectively.
The SLIAC Indoor Championship is set to take place on Saturday, February 24th in Elsah, Illinois, at Principia (Ill.) College. The SLIAC Outdoor Championship will take place on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th at Greenville (Ill.) University in Greenville, Illinois.
The Gorloks will return to the track on Friday, January 19th when they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to compete in the Friday Night Spikes Meet at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.)
