COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Webster University women's basketball team was back in action this evening when they traveled to Columbus, Mississippi, to take on the Mississippi University for Women Owls for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Owls by a final score of 97-51 to improve to 16-0 on the season and 9-0 in conference play. With the loss, the Owls drop to 5-7 on the year and 4-4 in the conference.
Webster went 39-for-80 (48.8%) from the floor and 11-for-24 (45.8%) from behind the arc. They outrebounded the Owls by a final count of 44-36 with 21 rebounds coming on the offensive end. Webster forced MUW to turn the ball over 30 times in the contest and turned those turnovers into 33 points on the other end of the floor. The Gorloks also dished out 30 assists while racking up 22 steals.
Webster came out in the first quarter and jumped out to a 17-6 lead in the first five minutes of the game. The Owls would cut the lead to seven over the next few minutes, but an 11-3 run from Webster to end the quarter put them up 30-14 heading into the second. The Gorloks carried their momentum over into the second quarter and started the frame on a 23-4 run to extend their lead to 53-18. The Owls would outscore Webster 5-3 down the stretch but the Gorloks would take a 56-23 lead into the locker room.
Webster came out in the third quarter and quickly pushed their lead to 42 in the first three minutes of the half. They would push their lead out to as many as 47 in the quarter and took a 78-31 lead into the fourth. The Gorloks would get outscored 20-19 in the fourth but the damage was done as they cruised to their 16
th straight win to start the season.
Kate Rolfes led the way for Webster as she finished with a game high 20 points.

Bethany Lancaster, and
Julie Baudendistel also finished in double figures as Wilson had 14 points, Lancaster had 12 points, and Baudendistel finished with 11. In addition,
Jordyn Grimes finished with nine points and a team high eight rebounds to go with four assists.
The Gorloks will be back in action on Saturday, January 20
th when they travel to Batesville, Arkansas, to take on the Lyon (Ark.) College Scots for a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
