In the opening minutes of action, Webster took the early 6-4 advantage with back-to-back three-point baskets by Sykes II and Gabe Mccrary. Moments later, the Golden Eagles responded with an 8-0 run that generated the 12-6 deficit. On the following Gorlok possession, WU's Jonah Hibbert started a 10-0 run with a three-point basket. Following a layup by Karl Moore Jr., HIbbert knocked down another three-point basket that gave the Gorloks the 14-12 lead. Senior Alpha Diallo capped off the run with a basket in the paint for the 16-12 advantage.

Webster and Spalding pushed this decision to the score of 20-16 that included back-to-back baskets by Diallo. With eight left in the first half, WU's Sykes II started a 9-2 run with a three-point basket. Shortly later, Justin Ugo and John Renken added points at the free-throw line when Hibbert capped off the run with his third three-point basket of the game that generated the 29-22 lead. The Gorloks and Golden Eagles closed out the first half trading baskets as Webster took the 35-30 halftime advantage.

The Gorloks opened the second half with four quick points by Moore Jr that stretched the lead to six at 39-33. Moments later, following a basket in the paint by Diallo, the Golden Eagles countered with an 11-1 run that generated the 51-44 deficit. Webster and Spalding continued this contest and traded several trips to the free-throw line that pushed the score 57-48.

With five minutes left on the clock, the Gorloks answered with a 9-2 run that started on with four points by Moore Jr. WU's Sykes II capped off the run with five consecutive points that cut the deficit down to two at 59-57.
