Men’s Tennis Picked Tied For Third In UMAC South Division Preseason Coaches Poll

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) has released the 2026 Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll. The Gorloks were picked to finish in a tie for third in the South Division with nine points. 

2026 Roster:
The Gorloks return four student-athletes from last year's squad which includes Eli Bartek, Nicholas Granada, Jack Forlenza, and Shawn Smith

Bartek enters his sophomore season looking to be atop of the Gorlok lineup. Last season, he recorded a 4-5 record in singles (#4) and 4-7 in doubles (#2).

Granada enters his senior campaign coming off a 5-5 record in singles (#5) and 5-1 doubles (#3).

Forlenza enters his final season of competition coming a 2024-25 UMAC Honorable Mention that included a 10-7 singles record (#5 and #6) and 11-8 doubles record (#3).

Smith enters his sophomore season coming a 4-8 singles record (#6) and 4-4 doubles record (#3). 

Head Coach John Black is excited to add two student-athletes to the mix which includes first-year Griffin Olson and sophomore Robin Wong

2026 Schedule:
The Gorloks will play in 15 non-conference matches and four conference matches before competing in the 2026 UMAC Tournament starting on April 24th at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. 

The top two teams in each division at the end of the regular season will compete in the UMAC Tournament on Friday, May 1 for the semifinals match. Following that match, the UMAC Championship match is set for Saturday, May 2 at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The tournament champion will receive the UMAC's automatic qualifying bid to the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Tennis Championship to compete in the national tournament.
