Gorlok Alums Jenny Howard and Will Savage Elected To 2026 SLIAC Hall of Fame

 BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has selected the Class of 2026 SLIAC Hall of Fame that included Gorloks alums Jenny Howard and Will Savage. 

Jenny Howard: Volleyball and Track & Field (2011-2014)
A dual-sport athlete that competed in the sports of volleyball and track during the seasons of 2011-14, Jenny Howard was a spectacular athlete that led the volleyball team to FOUR straight SLIAC Championships with FOUR consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament while shattering three track school records.

During the 2011 season, Howard recorded 256 kills that averaged to a 2.91 kills per set while collecting a career-high 285 digs. Howard capped off her freshman season with a .318 attacking percentage that ranks ninth in the history books. At the end of the season, Howard was named the September 6th SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Illinois Wesleyan All Tournament Team & SLIAC All-Tournament Team, and First-Team All-Conference. As a freshman, Howard was a member of the 2011 SLIAC Championship team, made an appearance at the NCAA Volleyball tournament that resulted in being named 2011 SLIAC Newcomer of the Year.

In her sophomore campaign, Howard recorded two, top-1o single-season records that included a .973 reception percentage which ranks fourth all-time for a single-season and sixth with a .327 attacking percentage. In addition, Howard recorded a career-high 262 kills, career-high hitting percentage of .327 and career-high 15 service aces. Howard was named SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week three times, First-Team All-SLIAC, MVP of SLIAC Tournament, SLIAC Player of the Year, and SLIAC All-Academic team. Howard and her teammates split the conference title and returned back to the NCAA Tournament.

During her junior season, Howard recorded a single-match high of 23 digs and a total of five blocks against Rose-Hulman as four were solo blocks. At the end of her junior season, Howard took home more hardware as she was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team, Honorable Mention 3rd team from the SLIAC, and SLIAC All-Academic team. Howard and her teammates finished second in the SLIAC but won the SLIAC tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year. 

During her senior season, Howard shattered several single-match highs that included a 20 kill performance and an attacking percentage of .645 against IWC on October 4, 2014. In addition, Howard achieved a total of 50 attacks against Greenville University on September 20, 2014. Howard capped off her career in 2014 doubling her hardware total from her junior season.

At the conclusion of the 2014 season, Howard was named the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh All Tournament Team, Second-Team All Conference team, SLIAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and SLIAC All Decade Team. Howard and her teammates won the SLIAC tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year. Howard was quite the scholar in the classroom as she was named to the SLIAC All Academic Team and the Cosida Academic All District team and received the SLIAC post-graduate scholarship in 2015.

For her career on the volleyball court, Howard ranks in the top-10 all-time in four different categories; fifth with a .296 career attacking percentage, eighth with a 2.78 kills per ser average, ninth with 918 kills, and tenth all-time with 2,577 attacking attempts that resulted to being named to the Webster University All-Decade Team.

On the indoor track, Howard etched her name into the history books in the 60 meter dash as she broke the school record with a time of 7.96 seconds at the Fred Wilt Invitational hosted by Anderson College in 2014. With a decade passed, this mark still remains the top mark for this event in history.

On the outdoor track, Howard shattered the 100 meter school record in 2013 at North Central College with a time of 12.25 seconds. The next season in 2014, she broke the 200 meter school record at the St. Louis University Billiken Invitational with a time of 25.10. To this current date, both records still remain the top spot in the track & field record books.

During her career as a Gorlok, Howard dominated the SLIAC where she captured both the 2013 SLIAC 100m & 200m championships while ranking top-40 nationally in 2013 and 2014, and was second in the 100m in 2015. In addition, she was named SLIAC Track Athlete of the Week six times, earned a spot on the SLIAC All-Academic Team all four years, selected as nominee for the SLIAC NCAA Woman of the Year in 2015, claimed Webster's Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2014 and 2015, and was chosen to the Webster University Indoor Track All-Decade Team in 2020. Howard capped off her astonishing career by being named the Indoor Track Athlete of the Decade and earning a selection to the Outdoor Track All-Decade Team.

Jenny graduated from Webster in 2015 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a 3.82 GPA. She attended the University of Missouri for Veterinary school where she earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, masters degrees, and residency training. Jenny is also a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM)

As a six rotation outside, she dominated as an attacker and was equally as strong as a backcourt defender.  The fact that Jenny also excelled as a track athlete for the Gorloks was incredible.  She was a fun player to watch and coach." said Webster Head Coach Merry Graf

Will Savage: Baseball (2007-2010)
Savage arguably had the best single-season pitching performance in Gorlok Baseball history in the 2010 season. Following that season, Savage was named a Rawlings/ABCA First Team All-American, Rawlings/ABCA First Team All-Central Region, NCAA DIII Central Region All-Tournament Team, SLIAC All-Tournament, and SLIAC First Team All-Conference.

In 2010, Savage went undefeated with a 9-0 record, which ranks tied for first in Webster University All-time highest win percentage and wins, posted a 1.52 ERA, which ranks second in Webster's history books, had six complete games, which ranks second all-time, and recorded three shutouts, which ranks tied for second all-time. In addition, he recorded 151 strikeouts in 82 and two-thirds innings of work. Lastly, he was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Second Team and the Webster University Male Athlete of the Year in 2010.

In the 2009 season, he recorded a 6-3 overall record that included 11 starts and four complete games. In 13 appearances, he delivered 59 and one-third innings and recorded 49 strikeouts. 

During his four-year career as a Gorlok, he was a member of the program that recorded an 81-9 SLIAC record and four SLIAC regular-season titles. In addition, he is a two-time SLIAC Tournament Champion (2007 and 2010), made three NCAA Tournament appearances, and was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. In the SLIAC record books, he currently ranks tied for third all-time with three shutouts.

Savage graduated from Webster in 2010 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He then completed a Master's of Library and Information Science from Illinois in 2013.
