Gorloks Secure 2026 SLIAC Regular Season Title; Claim No. 1 Seed In SLIAC Baseball Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University baseball secured the 2026 SLIAC Regular Season title with a 5-2 victory over Lyon College this past Saturday on Senior Day. The Gorloks made history in SLIAC and became the first program in conference history to win over 20 conference games in a season which was captured with a 21-3 mark. With this title, Webster has won 18 of the past 19 SLIAC Regular Season titles. The Gorloks have secured the No. 1 seed in the 2026 SLIAC Baseball Tournament and had a first-round bye. 

This season, the Gorloks opened conference play with eight consecutive victories that included sweeps over Greenville University and Westminster College while taking a game from Blackburn College and MUW. Webster's win streak ended with a loss to MUW. Webster then recorded a 10-game SLIAC win streak that included sweeps over Eureka College and Principia College, two wins over Blackburn, and one each against MUW and Spalding University. Following two losses to Spalding, the Gorloks swept Lyon College and earned the number one seed. 

In conference play, the Gorloks finished first in the conference with a .351 batting average, a .562 slugging percentage, 299 hits, and 40 homeruns. Webster finished second with 244 runs and 75 stolen bases while tied for second with 207 RBI's.

On the mound, the Gorloks recorded the lowest team ERA in the conference with a 4.01 ERA, allowed a conference-low 118 runs, 92 earned runs, and 14 homeruns. Webster finished second with 201 strikeouts. 

In conference play, centerfielder James Theordore led the league with a .455 batting average and 46 hits. He finished tied for second with 20 stolen bases and third with 35 runs. He recorded a 1.054 OPS, 55 total bases, and 17 RBI's.

Senior catcher / designated hitter Nick Wrubluski tied with Adam Moser for first in the league with eight homeruns. Wrubluski finished second with a .422 batting average, a .828 slugging percentage, an OPS of 1.353. He finished third with an on-base percentage of .525. In 19 conference games, he recorded 27 hits, 24 RBI's, and 53 total bases.

Junior outfielder Moser tied for first in the conference with eight homeruns. In addition, he finished second with 37 runs, 37 RBI's, and tied for second with 20 stolen bases. He finished third with a .736 slugging percentage, an 1.240 OPS, and 13 hit-by-pitches. He finished seventh with a .504 on-base percentage. Lastly, he finished 13th in the league with a .385 batting average. 

Senior catcher Dalton Groves finished tied for second in the conference with five sacrifice flyouts, sixth in the conference with nine doubles, and eighth in the conference with a .393 batting average. He recorded an OPS of 1.013, slugged for .536, and an on-base percentage of .477. Lastly, he had 33 hits, 25 RBI's, 45 total bases.

Junior first baseman Ethan Wielt finished fifth in the conference with a .407 batting average. He recorded an OPS of 1.074, slugged for .574, and an on-base percentage of .500. Lastly, he recorded 22 hits, three homeruns, eight RBI's, and 31 total bases.

On the mound, junior left handed pitcher Ryan Greifelt tied for first in the conference with five wins in seven starts. He finished second with 49 strikeouts and third with an opponent batting average of .201 and 17 looking strikeouts. Lastly, he finished fifth with 43.2 innings pitched and seventh with a 2.89 ERA.

Senior starting pitcher Carter Hunt tied for first in the conference with 18 looking strikeouts and second with four wins. In addition, he finished sixth with an opponent batting average of .238 and 45 strikeouts. Lastly, he recorded a 3.15 ERA over 40 innings pitched that finished eighth and ninth in the conference respectively.

First-year starting pitcher Colt Armbrust recorded a 5-0 record and 38.2 innings in his six conference starts. He finished fourth with an opponent batting average of .203, fifth in the conference with a 2.79 ERA, eighth with 13 looking strikeouts, and ninth with 36 strikeouts.

Junior right handed reliever Wes Carter recorded the lowest ERA in the conference with a 2.03 ERA. He tied for second with four wins over 31 innings of work. He finished fifth with an opponent batting average of .230. Lastly, he recorded 24 strikeouts and finished seventh with 13 looking strikeouts.
