Gorloks Feast on Sagehens in 70-46 Victory

Closing out its California trip with a second straight win, the Webster women’s basketball team defeated Pomona-Pitzer College, 70-46, on December 30. Up by two at the half, the Gorloks wore the Sagehens down in the second half with pressure defense and a deep bench that kept fresh legs in the game.

Webster forced 23 turnovers, picked up 12 steals, and had five blocked shots in the game, while out-rebounding Pomona, 37-24. Katy Meyer (SR, Parkway Central HS) had a team-high 22 points, hitting on six of nine three-point attempts, and had three blocks. Molly Zehner (SR, Oakville HS) had 11 points for the Gorloks, and Kaliann Rikard (FR, Cuba HS, MO) had a team-high seven rebounds.

Blaire Underwood (JR, Webster Groves HS) had seven assists in the game, the highest total for a Gorlok this season. Webster had 20 assists as a team for its 26 field goals. Eleven different players saw 10 minutes or more on the floor in the contest.

Webster is 7-4 overall on the season. The team will return to action in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, on January 4 at Blackburn College (IL). The Gorloks next home game is versus Principia College (IL) on January 6 at Grant Gymnasium.
