The Webster University men’s basketball team lost to a tough Drury University squad, 96-72, in Springfield, MO, on December 8. The Panthers, an NCAA II team ranked first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division pre-season poll, shot a torrid 50% from the 3-point line (11-22). Drew Moore (SR, Northwest HS) led Webster with 18 points.
Drury led 51-36 at the half, built the lead to 23 early in the second, and kept the Gorloks at bay the rest of the way. In addition to Moore’s 18 points, he also pulled down a team high eight rebounds. Stefan Whittingham (FR, Ft. Lauderdale HS, FL), getting his first extended playing time of the season, scored 15 points and had seven rebounds in 24 minutes. Willie Trimble (JR, Riverside CC, CA) had five steals to go with eight points in the game.
The Gorloks are 3-3 overall. Drury improved to 7-1 with the win. Webster travels to Mississippi to face Rust College on December 11 and play in the Lon Varnell Classic in Tennessee on December 17-18.
