Coach Bunch’s Historic Season Earns SLIAC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year Selection

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the end of the season awards for the sport of Men's Basketball. Head Coach Chris Bunch was named the SLIAC Coach of the Year after leading the Gorloks to the 2025-26 SLIAC Regular Season Regular title with a 15-1 conference record. With this selection, it marks his eighth Coach of the Year award.

This season, Coach Bunch led this team that is composed of 10 returners, eight transfers, and two freshmen to a SLIAC Regular Season title which marks the 12th in SLIAC history.

In addition, he led the Gorloks to a 15-game SLIAC unbeaten streak which set the new Webster University Men's Basketball program record for most consecutive conference wins in a single season. 

In conference play, Coach Bunch led the Gorloks to a conference-best margin of victory of 12.2 points and set a league-best 36.1 percent clip from three-point land. In addition, he led this group that finished second in the conference with an average of 82.7 points per game. Furthermore, he guided this team that finished second with a field-goal percentage of 49 percent and second by holding opponents to 40.4 percent from the field. Lastly, the Gorloks finished third in defense by holding opponents to an average of 70.5 points per game under his leadership.

This season, Coach Bunch coached three All-Conference selections in Charles Nelson, Jemard Sykes II, and Adam Painter as Sykes was selected to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team. 

Each year, the SLIAC awards the Men's Basketball Regular Season Champion Head Coach with the Coach of the Year honor.
