Nelson, Sykes II, and Painter Earn All-Conference Honors; Harmon Selected To All-Sportsmanship Team

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the end of the season All-Conference Teams and individual awards for the sport of Men's Basketball. WU's Charles Nelson was selected to the First Team, Jemard Sykes II was named to the Second Team, and Adam Painter was chosen to the Third Team. Additionally, Sykes II was selected to the All-Defensive Team while Will Harmon was tabbed to the All-Sportsmanship Team.  

Nelson, a junior guard from St. Louis, secured a First Team All-Conference selection where he led the team with 289 points, 62 assists, and 33 steals. In addition, he finished tied for first on the team with 28 three-pointers made. He shot 45.4 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from three-point land, and 84.6 percent from the field. Lastly, he collected a total of 66 rebounds and added seven blocks.

In conference, Nelson finished the season with four top-25 statistical rankings. He tied for third in assists with an average of 3.9 per game. Also, he finished fourth in assist to turnover with a ratio of 1.6 and tied for fourth in scoring with an average of 18.1 points per game. Lastly, he finished seventh in steals with an average of 2.1 per game.

Sykes II, a senior guard from St. Louis earned his Second Team All-Conference selection where he finished second on the team with 82 rebounds, 36 assists, and 21 steals. He finished third on the team in scoring with 173 points. Lastly, he shot 47.7 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from behind the arc, and 86.4 percent from the free-throw line 

In conference, Sykes II finished in five top-25 statistical categories. He tied for sixth with 28 made three-pointers for an average of 1.8 per game, and 16th in assists with an average of 2.3 per game. Also, he finished 20th in steals with an average of 1.3 per game and tied for 20th in rebounding with an average of 5.1 rebounds per game. Lastly, he tied for 23rd in scoring with an average of 10.8 points per game.

Painter, a junior from St. Peters, Missouri earned a Third Team All-Conference where he finished first on the team in rebounding with 115 rebounds, second on the team in scoring 187 points, third on the team with 33 assists, and fourth on the team in steals with 18 steals. He shot 55.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.

In the conference, Painter secured four top-25 statistical categories. He finished sixth in rebounding with an average of 7.2 rebounds per game, tied for 19th in assists with an average of 2.1 assists per game, 21st in scoring with an average of 11.7 points per game, and tied for 23rd in steals with an average of 1.1 steals per game.

In addition, Sykes II was selected to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team where he recorded 55 defensive rebounds, 21 steals, and four blocks.

Lastly, Harmon was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
