Gorloks Be-Deviled By Eureka

Eureka College (IL) 76 Webster 62

The Webster University men’s basketball team fell alone into fourth-place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 76-62 loss at Eureka College (IL) on February 6.  The Gorloks are holding onto the final conference tournament spot, two games ahead of fifth-place Greenville College (IL), with four games remaining in the SLIAC schedule.

Webster fell behind 14-3 to start the game, but worked its way back to a one-point halftime lead despite a cold shooting half (33%).  While the Gorloks couldn't get untracked in the second-half, Eureka caught fire, shooting 65% to pull away and secure the victory.

Freshman Cody Bradfisch (Jerseyville HS, IL) led the Gorlok scoring with 13 points.  Playing in only his second game of the season, Reggie Smith (SR, College of DuPage, IL) led Webster with seven rebounds to go along with his five points and three assists.  Robby Meeh (JR, Lindbergh HS, STL) continued his recent scoring binge, adding 12 points for the game.

The Gorloks are 7-5 in the SLIAC and 10-11 overall.  Webster hits the road again on February 10 to take on first-place Westminster College in Fulton, MO.  The Gorloks play next at home on February 16 against Principia College (IL).
