Women's Tennis Picks Up Wins in Preparation for SLIAC Tourneys

The Webster University women's tennis team picked up two more St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wins this week, as it looks to post-season play in the SLIAC. The Gorloks won at Principia College (IL), 8-1, on March 30 and defeated Fontbonne University, 9-0, at home on April 3. Webster is now 5-0 versus SLIAC competition.

Paige Tungate (SO, Flora HS, IL) improved her season singles record to 6-2, and her doubles record to 6-2 in the match wins. Mandy Tabakin (SO, First Colonial HS, VA) had straight 6-0, 6-0 wins and combined with Lindsey Hays (FR, Francis Howell HS, STL) to win 8-2 vs. Principia and 8-0 vs. Fontbonne.

Tabakin and Allison Tungate (SO, Flora HS, IL) raised their season singles records to 5-1 with wins in both matches. Alex Meyer (JR, Effingham HS, IL) suffered her first loss, playing the #1 singles vs. Principia, but rebounded with a victory at #1 vs. Fontbonne, raising her season record to 5-1 as well.

Webster is 6-3 overall. The women take on perennial national power, Washington University, at The Hilltop on April 7. The results from the Principia and Fontbonnne matches are as follows:
