The Webster University men’s basketball team ran its win streak to eight in a row, beating Westminster College, 57-48, at Grant Gymnasium on January 19. The Gorloks move to a half game of first in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 6-1 record. The loss was the first of the year in the SLIAC for Westminster, who drops to 7-1.

Robby Meeh (SR, Lindbergh HS) and Drew Moore (SR, Northwest HS) both sparked a Gorlok comeback, recording an extremely rare duo double-double in the game. Meeh scored 12 points while pulling down 11 rebounds. Moore netted 10 points and tied Meeh for the team-high with 11 rebounds. Willie Trimble (JR, Riverside CC, CA) led the Goroks with 14 points.

Westminster built a 10-point lead in the second half before the Gorloks started wearing it down. Webster gained control of the boards on both ends, while a spotty offense edged the Gorloks closer. The Webster defense forced 18 turnovers in the game, while the Gorloks only commited nine for the contest. The frustrated Blue Jays sent the Gorloks to the free-throw line 23 times in the second half, and Webster converted 17 of them.

The Gorloks are 11-4 overall. Webster hits the road for a three-game stand, starting with a game at Greenville College (IL) on January 22. The team returns home on February 5, when they take on MacMurray College (IL).
