The Webster University women’s basketball team lost to Westminster College, 89-65, at Grant Gymnasium on January 19. Seven Blue Jay three-pointers put the Gorloks in a 40-29 halftime hole they weren’t able to overcome. Westminster remained unbeaten in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Katy Meyer (SR, Parkway Central HS) led Webster with 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had six assists on the night. Maggie Zehner (SO, Oakville HS) had 13 points and six rebounds in the game. Megan Willett (JR, Parkway West HS) had a game-high eight rebounds.
The Gorloks fell behind by 11 points early in the contest, moved within one, but unforced turnovers plagued Webster throughout the game as Westminster pulled away for the win. Webster committed a season-high 29 turnovers in the game.
Webster is 4-3 in the SLIAC and 9-7 overall on the season. The Gorloks take to the road for three straight SLIAC contests, beginning with a game at Greenville College (IL) on January 22. They are home next on February 5 to face MacMurray College (IL).
